Tiny Buddha: No Price Tag For Happiness

I wrote an article about quitting my job to explore and pursue my interests. Tiny Buddha published it in December 2009.

University Work

These are select pieces of my university work from, showing my different writing abilities. To view the writing pieces, click on the title of each description.

Piece 1: Fundraising Letter

For a class writing assignment, I wrote a fundraising letter for an organization of my choice. I chose to write a letter for Coal Oil Point Reserve, the citizen sector organization with whom I volunteered. I addressed the letter to Yvon Chouinard, founder of the outdoor clothing line Patagonia; I thought that Patagonia would be the perfect donor since the company is committed to environmental protection.

I presented this letter to the organization's board, and they currently have it on file for future use.

Piece 2: BizComm Internship Brochure

I was selected to create a brochure for the Business Communication Internship Program, through UCSB's Professional Writing minor. One hundred copies of the brochure were made, and they will be passed out to Santa Barbara businesses and organizations in winter 2009.

I made the brochure on Adobe InDesign.

Piece 3: E-newsletter Article

I wrote an e-newsletter article for the BizComm Professional Writing minor e-newsletter. The article is about the importance of networking.

You can view the article on pages 3-4 of the hardcopy version by clicking the link above. The article is also published online here.

Piece 4: News Release

This piece is part of a mock promotional plan to publicize and implement the City of Santa Barbara's sustainability report. I chose to make up a competition, called the Go Green Challenge, between Santa Barbara organizations.

Part of the plan included writing a news release. Please note that this is a fictional news release.

Piece 5: Brush Up the World Grant Proposal

I designed and wrote the marketing strategy for a grant proposal to support a proposed citizen organization called Brush Up the World. The objective was to improve oral hygiene in third-world countries by supplying dental equipment and providing oral hygiene education to children in need.

My team and I presented this proposal at the Southern California Conference of Undergraduate Research (SCCUR) in fall 2007.
